"Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible."_Francis Assisi
"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." _Marcus Aurelius
When President Richard Nixon presented Pearl Bailey the American Heart Association Award. These powerful words were said, "I believe we could say with regard to Pearl Bailey, she, from the standpoint of emotion, from the standpoint of poetry, from the standpoint of love--all of these things that the heart symbolizes--she has a big heart which is demonstrated by her great audience and we appreciate that and we present this award to her in that spirit." What an amazing woman!
I wish to meet myself again, real self, new self and release my personalities on the world and lift up humanity. Self-appreciation/valuing self is important
Sometimes there are obstacles in my way; yet faith keeps me grounded, and perserverance enables me to go on.
"The river may be wide, but it can always be crossed." __ African Proverb “You can’t stop and ask, ‘Is the reader going to like what I’m writing about, or like me?’ You just have to have the ego to go for it and do what you want to do. … The minute you try to think about what people want, you’re dead. There’s no law that says you have to keep 100% of your readers enthralled.” ___ William Zinsser
We saw the lightning and that was the guns and then we heard the thunder and that was the big guns; and then we heard the rain falling and that was the blood falling; and when we came to get in the crops, it was dead men that we reaped. - Harriet Tubman
Researching Pearl Bailey's life has been an interesting and fascinating journey. I am revising a screenplay that I started working on about five years ago. She did it all in her own way from, singing, dancing, politics, helping and loving others. What a woman! "Show business to her was to show love."
I love escaping into my writing; imagining, discovering, experiencing, exploring, and reliving.
Writing is a love affair with words. This will be my first Mother's Day without my mother. It is such a strange feeling not having her around and calling or whispering my name "Sandra." Happy Mother's Day to All Mothers! "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb." Psalm 139:13 "I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." Abraham Lincoln “To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.” —Maya Angelou “Because I feel that, in the Heavens above / The angels, whispering to one another, / Can find, among their burning terms of love / None so devotional as that of ‘Mother’” —Edgar Allen Poe |
